"Papillon Dogs"

The Papillon is believed to be the oldest of the toy breeds. They are also called the "Continental Toy Spaniel".

These small elegant toy dogs are considered a dainty breed but really they are tougher then they look. They are a well balanced and lively dog.

Their long, lustrous, flowing and silky coats come in many colors with white patches. The colors are pale lemon and white, rich shade of red, chestnut and mahogany. Colors other than white is over their eyes and ears back to front. Their coat is fluffy at their chest.

Their ears are distinctive, large fringed and look like butterfly wings. Because of them they have the nickname of "butterfly dog." They have a white blaze and noseband on their face with a short but pointed muzzle. Although they have a fine-boned structure they are surprisedly athletic. They have an alert and intelligent expression.

Height: 8-11 inches
Weight: 3-9 pounds
